Two new (and not-at-all boring) exhibits for tots

Water Ways

A family trip to the museum always feels so . . . worthy. So you can bet we'll be checking out the two new exhibits for tots that opened this month. At the Zimmer's "Water Ways" water table exhibit, kids can create intricate pipe sculptures and fountains, construct channels for toy boats, and spray tree and windmill targets with water blasters. Nearby at LACMA, kids can walk (or crawl) under a two-story-tall, 340-ton boulder that appears to be floating in mid-air (it's cooler than it sounds). Plucked from Jurupa Valley, the gigantic work (titled “Levitated Mass”) opened yesterday and is intended to be a permanent fixture. Bonus: provide proof that you live between Jurupa Valley and Los Angeles (a driver's license will do), and get free admission to the rest of the galleries; through July 1st.
